Translation Transliteration — Ash-Shura

وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَٰكِن يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَاءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَالظَّالِمُونَ مَا لَهُم مِّن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ ۝٨

Wa law shaaa`al laahu laja`alahum ummatanw waahi datanw walaakiny yudkhilumany yashaaa`u fee rahmatih; waz zaalimoona maa lahum minw waliyyinw wa laa naseer

Meanings of Key Words:

Ummatan wāḥidah (أمة واحدة): One single nation or community united upon one religion.

Explanation of the Verse:

If Allah had willed, He could have made all of humanity a single nation upon one faith—Islam—guiding every soul to the truth and admitting them all into Paradise. But His divine wisdom decreed otherwise. He grants His mercy—the guidance of Islam and the bliss of Paradise—to whom He wills among His creation, based on His eternal knowledge of those who sincerely seek the truth and embrace it. As for the wrongdoers—those who persist in disbelief and sin, harming their own souls—they will find no protector to look after their affairs on the Day of Judgment, nor any helper to rescue them from Allah’s punishment. Their fate is sealed by their own choices, and no intercessor or ally can shield them from divine justice.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

This verse awakens the heart to a profound reality: Allah’s mercy is vast and near, but it is not a prize for the negligent—it is a treasure for those who strive. The door of His mercy remains open to every sincere seeker, yet the wrongdoer who turns away from that door has only himself to blame. Do not let your soul be among the losers! Hasten to the embrace of His mercy through faith, repentance, and righteous deeds. For on that Day, wealth, status, and even family will be of no avail—only the mercy of Allah, earned through obedience, will be your true companion. Let this verse be a gentle yet firm reminder that your salvation lies in your own hands, and His mercy is closer to you than your own jugular vein—so reach out to it before the appointed hour arrives.

📜 Verse 6-10 — Ash-Shura

6وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ

And those who take as allies other than Him - Allah is [yet] Guardian over them; and you, [O Muhammad], are not over them a manager.

7وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّتُنذِرَ أُمَّ الْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنذِرَ يَوْمَ الْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ فَرِيقٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِي السَّعِيرِ

And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur'an that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Makkah] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.

9أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۖ فَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides him? But Allah - He is the Protector, and He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things competent.

10وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَيْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبِّي عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

And in anything over which you disagree - its ruling is [to be referred] to Allah. [Say], "That is Allah, my Lord; upon Him I have relied, and to Him I turn back."
