Surah Ad-Dukhan — Verse 59

Word Meanings:

• Fartaqib (فَارْتَقِبْ): Wait, anticipate, or be on the lookout for something.
• Murtaqiboon (مُرْتَقِبُونَ): Those who are waiting or anticipating (something to happen).

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Messenger, wait patiently and with full confidence for what your Lord has promised you—victory over these disbelievers and the punishment that will inevitably befall them. Do not be distressed by their mockery or their scheming, for the outcome belongs to Allah alone. They, on the other hand, are waiting—but they wait in ignorance and false hope, anticipating your downfall, your death, or your defeat. They think their plots will succeed, but they do not realize that the final triumph belongs to the believers.

Let them wait, for their waiting will only bring them disappointment. The promise of Allah is true, and His help is near. The tables will turn, and they will see with their own eyes whose side Allah is on. The honor, the victory, and the exalted word in this life and the Hereafter will be for the Messenger and those who follow him in faith and righteousness.

So stand firm, O believer, and let your heart be at peace. The One who revealed the Qur'an and sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth will surely make His word supreme. Their waiting is but a temporary illusion; your waiting is anchored in the certainty of Allah's promise. And when the moment arrives, they will know—too late—that the victory was always with the righteous.
