Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Bil-Haqq (بِالْحَقِّ): With truth, justice, and profound wisdom — not in vain or as a plaything.
- Kullu nafsin (كُلُّ نَفْسٍ): Every single soul — no exceptions, no exclusions.
- Bimā kasabat (بِمَا كَسَبَتْ): According to what it earned — its deeds, whether good or evil.
- Lā yuẓlamūn (لَا يُظْلَمُونَ): They will not be wronged — neither by diminishing their rewards nor by inflating their sins.
The Interpretation:
Allah — in His infinite wisdom and perfect justice — created the heavens and the earth with truth, not as a meaningless accident or a fleeting amusement. The entire universe, in its majestic order and breathtaking precision, stands as a living testimony to His power, His purpose, and His absolute fairness. He did not create all of this in vain; rather, He created it with a profound purpose: that every soul shall be recompensed in the Hereafter for what it has earned in this life.
This verse carries a dual message of hope and accountability. On one hand, it reassures the believer that no good deed — no matter how small or hidden — will ever be lost. On the other hand, it warns the wrongdoer that no evil action will escape the scales of divine justice. The creation of the heavens and the earth is not merely a display of power; it is a promise that this worldly life is not the final chapter. There is a Day when every soul will stand before its Lord, and the books of deeds will be opened.
And in that recompense, there is absolute fairness: "And they will not be wronged." No one will have their good deeds diminished, and no one will have their sins exaggerated. The One who created the vast heavens and the earth with truth is the same One who will judge with perfect equity. He does not need to oppress, and He would never do so — for oppression is a flaw, and He is free of all flaws.
So, dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart: your life is not a random occurrence. You were created with purpose, and your actions carry weight. Every breath you take, every choice you make, is being recorded. But take heart — the same God who created the universe with truth has promised you that your efforts will never be in vain. If you strive for good, you will find it waiting for you, multiplied and honored. And if you have fallen into sin, know that His mercy is vast, and His door of repentance is open until the very last moment.
Let the heavens and the earth remind you daily: there is a purpose to your existence, a justice that will prevail, and a reward that is far greater than anything this world can offer. So race toward goodness, and place your trust in the One who never breaks His promise.
