Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Kibriya’ (الكبرياء): Grandeur, majesty, supremacy, and absolute perfection. It signifies the exclusive attribute of greatness and dominion that belongs to none but Allah.
- Al-‘Aziz (العزيز): The Almighty, the All-Powerful, the Invincible—the One who cannot be overcome or defeated.
- Al-Hakim (الحكيم): The All-Wise—the One whose words, actions, decrees, and commands are all perfectly measured and free from any flaw or error.
Explanation of the Verse:
To Allah alone belongs all grandeur, majesty, and supreme glory in the heavens and the earth. His greatness is not merely a claim—it is a reality manifested in every corner of existence. The heavens above, with their vastness and order, and the earth below, with its beauty and provision, both bear witness to His absolute perfection and dominion. No one shares in this attribute, and no one can rival His majesty.
He is Al-‘Aziz—the Almighty whose power knows no limits and whose will cannot be challenged. No force in the universe can overcome Him, and no creature can escape His authority. He is also Al-Hakim—the All-Wise in everything He decrees, whether in creation, in His divine plan, or in His legislation. His wisdom permeates every command He gives and every destiny He ordains, for He knows what is best for His creation in ways that surpass human comprehension.
This verse stands as a powerful reminder that all greatness belongs to Allah alone. When a believer reflects on this truth, the heart naturally humbles itself before its Creator. It strips away any false sense of pride or self-importance, for how can a weak servant claim greatness when all majesty belongs to the Master of the heavens and the earth?
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and contemplate the world around you. Look at the sky above, the mountains standing firm, the oceans stretching endlessly—all of it speaks of a grandeur that is not its own, but a reflection of the Creator's glory. This verse invites you to recognize that true greatness is not found in wealth, status, or power, but in submission to the One who holds all greatness in His hands.
When you internalize this truth, your heart finds peace. You no longer fear the tyrants of this world, for their power is nothing before the Almighty. You no longer despair over your own weaknesses, for you rely on the All-Wise who knows what is best for you. This is the essence of faith—to humble yourself before the Majestic, to trust in the Wise, and to live a life that reflects His guidance. Indeed, the path to true honor lies in bowing to the One whose grandeur fills the heavens and the earth.
