Explanation of the Verse:
After mentioning the previous prophets and their nations, Allah—glorified and exalted—addresses the disbelievers of Makkah, informing them that He is the One who gave Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, the Torah. This was a complete favor and a perfect blessing upon Musa for his excellence in obedience and devotion to Allah. The Torah was not merely a book of laws; it was a comprehensive and detailed explanation of everything needed for the religious and worldly affairs of the Children of Israel—covering matters of worship, transactions, morals, and legal rulings. It was a source of guidance that led people from darkness to light, and a mercy that saved them from misguidance and destruction. The ultimate purpose behind granting this Book was so that the people would believe in the meeting with their Lord on the Day of Resurrection, and thus prepare for that day by performing righteous deeds and avoiding sins.
This verse carries a profound lesson for us today: Allah's revelation is always a manifestation of His mercy and wisdom. Just as He sent the Torah to Musa as a complete guidance, He sent the Qur'an to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, as the final and most comprehensive Book—a guidance for all of humanity until the end of time. The Qur'an contains everything we need for our success in this life and the Hereafter. It calls us to believe in the meeting with our Lord, to live with purpose, and to strive for Paradise. Let this verse inspire you to appreciate the immense blessing of divine revelation, to study the Qur'an with sincerity, and to let it transform your heart and actions. For whoever holds firmly to Allah's Book and follows His guidance shall never be lost, and whoever believes in the meeting with his Lord shall find in that belief the greatest motivation for righteousness and the sweetest hope for eternal success.
