Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Mihad (مِهَاد): A bed, resting place, or mattress spread beneath someone.
- Ghawaash (غَوَاشٍ): Plural of *ghaashiyah*; coverings or sheets that envelop and overwhelm from above.
Tafsir (Explanation):
For these disbelievers who rejected the truth and arrogantly turned away from their Lord, Hellfire will be their eternal abode. Beneath them, they will have beds of fire—a scorching mattress that burns their bodies from below—and above them, coverings of fire that enshroud them from every side, sealing them in torment. There is no escape, no relief, and no coolness to ease their suffering. This is the precise and just recompense that Allah, the All-Wise, gives to the wrongdoers—those who transgressed His limits, disbelieved in His signs, and persisted in their oppression against themselves and others.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
How immense is the mercy of Allah that He has warned us of this punishment before it comes! He does not wish to destroy us; rather, He invites us to turn back to Him, to embrace His guidance, and to save ourselves from such a fate. The fire of this world is but a faint glimpse of what awaits the unjust, yet the doors of repentance remain wide open. Every breath you take is an opportunity to return to your Creator, to soften your heart with His remembrance, and to walk the path of righteousness. Do not let arrogance or pride—the very traits that led these people to Hell—deprive you of the eternal bliss of Paradise. Choose today to be among the believers who submit to Allah, for His mercy encompasses all things, and His forgiveness is greater than any sin you may have committed. Let this verse be a wake-up call: the Hereafter is real, the reckoning is certain, and the wisest of people are those who prepare for it while there is still time.
