Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا (Then He will return you into it): i.e., after your death, you will be buried in the earth and return to it as dust.
- وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا (And bring you forth in a sure coming forth): i.e., He will take you out of your graves on the Day of Resurrection, a certain and guaranteed exit, with no doubt or escape.
Tafsir (Explanation):
After reminding humanity of His initial creation—that He brought you forth from the earth as a plant springs from the soil—the verse continues to establish the certainty of the second creation. Allah, the Exalted, declares that just as He originated you from the earth, He will return you into it after your death, where you will be buried and your bodies will decompose. Then, at the appointed Hour, He will bring you forth from those graves in a decisive and unmistakable manner, not by chance or accident, but by His perfect power and will. This exit is not merely a physical emergence; it is a purposeful resurrection leading to the standing before your Lord for reckoning and recompense. The repetition of the verb "إخراجًا" (a bringing forth) emphasizes that this event is absolutely certain and will occur exactly as promised, leaving no room for doubt. The earth that once received your body will surrender it back at His command, just as it surrendered the seed that grew into a plant.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth: the same Allah who created you from nothing—who caused you to grow and develop in your mother's womb, who gave you life, breath, and consciousness—is fully capable of bringing you back after death. The cycle of life is not a random accident; it is a deliberate design pointing to a greater purpose. Your return to the earth is not an end, but a transition. The grave is not a final destination, but a waiting room for the Day when you will be called forth to meet your Creator. This verse invites you to live with this awareness: that every moment of your life is a step toward that inevitable appointment. Let this certainty fill your heart with hope for the mercy of Allah, and with a sincere desire to prepare for that Day by following His guidance and the example of His beloved Messenger ﷺ. For the One who brings you out of the earth will surely bring you out of the graves—and His promise is true, His power is absolute, and His justice and mercy are perfect.
