Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Zajrah (زَجْرَةٌ): A single, powerful shout or blast — specifically the second blowing of the Trumpet (Sur) that raises the dead from their graves.
  • Wāḥidah (وَاحِدَةٌ): One only — not repeated, not needing a second call.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse addresses the skeptics who doubt the possibility of resurrection, questioning how bones scattered in the earth could ever be brought back to life. Allah responds with a profound and awe-inspiring declaration: the entire affair of resurrection is extraordinarily easy for Him. It is but a single shout — one piercing blast of the Trumpet — and in that very instant, every human being who has ever lived will rise from the dust, standing alive upon the face of the earth.

The greatness of this statement lies in its simplicity. Allah does not need a lengthy process, a series of stages, or repeated commands. His word is decisive: when He wills a thing, He merely says to it "Be," and it is. The same power that created the heavens and the earth from nothing, that brought forth every living creature from a drop of fluid, is fully capable of restoring life to decayed bones. The resurrection is not a difficult task for the One who originated creation in the first place — indeed, bringing it back is even easier.

This verse also carries a profound spiritual lesson for the believer. If Allah can resurrect all of humanity with a single shout, then no matter how impossible a situation may seem in your life, no matter how heavy your burdens or how dark your circumstances, His power is greater than all of it. The One who commands the dead to rise can certainly transform your hardship into ease, your sorrow into joy, and your despair into hope.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, ponder this: the same Allah who will raise you from your grave with one blast is the Allah who hears your prayers today. He is not distant, nor is He incapable. He is closer to you than your own jugular vein. So turn to Him with a sincere heart, for the Day will surely come when every soul stands before its Lord — and on that Day, the single shout will be the beginning of either eternal bliss or eternal regret. Prepare for that Day while you still have the chance, for the Trumpet will sound when you least expect it, and there will be no second opportunity.

📜 Verse 11-15 — An-Nazi'at

Even if we should be decayed bones?
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."
Indeed, it will be but one shout,
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.
Has there reached you the story of Moses? -
