Word Meanings:

  • Shā'a (شاء): Wills or desires.
  • Dhakarahu (ذَكَرَهُ): Remembers it, takes heed of it, or bears it in mind — referring to the Qur'an and its admonition.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse comes as a gentle yet powerful invitation to every human being. After the Qur'an is described as a reminder and a source of guidance, Allah says: "So whoever wills, let him remember it." The meaning is: whoever desires to benefit from this divine reminder, let him open his heart to it, reflect upon its verses, and let it transform his life. The door is wide open — no one is forced, but the opportunity is placed before everyone. The Qur'an is not a book to be admired from a distance; it is a living guide meant to be remembered, recited, and acted upon. The verse emphasizes personal responsibility: guidance is available, but it is up to each soul to reach out and take hold of it. This is a call to every seeker of truth, every troubled heart, and every soul longing for peace — the reminder is here, so step forward and embrace it.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, imagine a treasure so vast that it contains the answers to every question you have ever asked, the cure for every pain in your heart, and the light for every dark path ahead. That treasure is the Qur'an. This verse tells you that the key is in your hands — all you need is the will to open it. Allah does not force you; He lovingly invites you. He says: "Whoever wills, let him remember." This is the beauty of Islam — it respects your choice, but it also shows you where true success lies. The Qur'an is not just words on a page; it is a conversation between you and your Creator. Every time you open it, you are answering His call. So why not make it your daily companion? Why not let it guide your decisions, calm your worries, and elevate your soul? The reminder is here, waiting for you. All you need is the sincere will to remember. And when you do, you will find that Allah has been waiting for you all along, ready to fill your life with light, peace, and purpose.
