Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Kallā (كَلَّا): Absolutely not! A stern refutation and warning.
  • Maḥjūbūn (مَّحْجُوبُونَ): Veiled, screened, or prevented from seeing.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse delivers a decisive and sobering truth: on the Day of Judgment, the disbelievers and sinners who denied the truth will be veiled from seeing their Lord. The word *Kallā* serves as a powerful rebuke, shutting down any false hopes or excuses they might harbor. While the believers will be honored with the greatest blessing—the vision of their Lord in Paradise—the wicked will be deprived of this ultimate joy. Being veiled from Allah is not merely a physical separation; it is the deepest form of spiritual punishment, a consequence of their arrogance, disbelief, and persistent rejection of His signs in this worldly life. They turned away from Allah’s guidance when it was presented to them, so on that Day, they will be turned away from His mercy and denied the honor of beholding His noble Face.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the greatest loss is not the fire itself, but being deprived of the closeness to Allah. Imagine spending a lifetime chasing worldly pleasures, only to realize on the Day of Reckoning that you have lost the most precious reward—the joy of seeing your Creator. Yet, the door of mercy is open *now*. Allah, in His infinite kindness, has not veiled Himself from you in this life; He invites you to know Him, to worship Him, and to seek His forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to pray for the highest reward: *“O Allah, I ask You for the delight of looking upon Your Face and the longing to meet You.”* Do not let this opportunity slip away. Turn to Allah today with a sincere heart, and He will grant you what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever imagined—including the eternal honor of seeing Him in the Hereafter.
