Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yu'sqawna — They are given to drink.
- Rahiq — Pure, unadulterated wine or drink; the choicest and most refined beverage.
- Makhtum — Sealed; its container is closed with a seal, signifying purity, preservation, and exclusivity.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this verse, Allah describes the ultimate reward for the righteous—those who were sincere in faith and obedient in deed. They are served a drink of pure, exquisite wine (*rahiq*), which is sealed. This sealing indicates that the drink is perfectly preserved, untouched by any impurity, and reserved exclusively for the people of Paradise. The seal itself is a mark of honor and distinction, and it is said that its final scent is that of musk—a fragrance of unparalleled beauty. This drink is not like the intoxicating beverages of this world, which bring harm and cloud the mind; rather, it is a source of pure delight, free from any negative consequence, and it brings joy to the heart without any dullness of the senses.
The sealing also carries a deeper meaning: it symbolizes that this reward is safeguarded by Allah Himself, and no one can access it except those whom He has chosen—the righteous believers. It is a gift that reflects His infinite generosity and love for His servants. The verse invites us to reflect on the contrast between the fleeting pleasures of this world and the everlasting, pure delights of the Hereafter. While worldly pleasures are often mixed with impurities, fatigue, or regret, the pleasures of Paradise are perfect, complete, and eternal.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a beautiful reminder of the mercy and bounty of Allah. He does not merely promise His righteous servants a reward; He describes it in vivid, sensory terms to stir our hearts and draw us closer to Him. Imagine a drink so pure that it is sealed to protect its perfection—this is but one of the countless blessings awaiting those who strive in His path. Let this inspire you to persevere in faith and good deeds, for the joy that awaits is beyond anything this world can offer. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that even the smallest act of sincerity is met with immense reward, so never underestimate the power of your devotion. Strive for Paradise, where the cups are filled with delight, and the seal is a testament to Allah's care for His beloved servants. May we all be among those who are given to drink from this sealed, pure rahiq, and may our hearts find peace in the promise of His eternal generosity.
