- الْخِزْيُ: Disgrace, humiliation, and utter shame.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Have these hypocrites not yet realized that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger—by waging war against them, harming the Prophet (peace be upon him), or rejecting their commands—will surely have the Fire of Hell as their destiny? They will remain therein forever, enduring its torment without end. This is not merely a punishment; it is the ultimate disgrace and humiliation—a shame that will overwhelm them in this life and the next.
This verse serves as a stern warning to those who harbor enmity toward Allah and His Messenger. The act of opposing the Prophet (peace be upon him) includes insulting him, mocking his message, or seeking to undermine his mission—may Allah protect us from such behavior. The consequence is absolute and certain: eternal punishment in Hellfire, where they will taste the worst of humiliations.
Yet, in this warning lies a profound mercy. Allah, in His infinite justice, clearly declares the consequences so that no one may claim ignorance. He gives people the chance to turn back, repent, and correct their ways before it is too late. This is the beauty of Islam—a religion that combines stern warnings with open doors of repentance. Let every soul reflect: do we wish to stand among those who honor Allah and His Messenger, or among those who oppose them? The choice is ours, and the outcome is clear. May Allah guide us all to the straight path and protect us from the disgrace of His displeasure.
