Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • "Yagh naw" (يَغْنَوْا) – to dwell, reside, or live in a place in comfort and prosperity.
  • "Kafarū" (كَفَرُوا) – to disbelieve, reject, or deny the truth.
  • "Bu'dan" (بُعْدًا) – being far away, removed, or banished from mercy.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse paints a vivid scene of the aftermath of Thamud's destruction. It says: "As if they had never lived there at all." Imagine a thriving community with homes, gardens, and prosperity—then, in the blink of an eye, it all vanished. The verse emphasizes the swift and complete nature of their end, as though their entire existence in that land was but a fleeting dream.

Then comes the profound declaration: "Surely, Thamud disbelieved in their Lord." This is a stark reminder that their downfall was not arbitrary—it was the direct consequence of their rejection of Allah's signs and messengers. They were given clear proofs, yet they turned away in arrogance and stubbornness.

Finally, the verse concludes with a powerful supplication against them: "So away with Thamud!" This is a declaration of their expulsion from Allah's mercy and a warning to all who follow in their footsteps. It is not a curse born of spite, but a divine pronouncement of justice—a reminder that those who persist in disbelief and oppression will ultimately find themselves far from the grace of Allah.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this scene. The people of Thamud were blessed with strength, skill, and prosperity. They carved magnificent homes into mountains and lived in abundance. Yet, when the truth came to them, they rejected it. Their story is not just history—it is a timeless lesson. Every soul that turns away from the guidance of its Creator faces the same fate: a life that fades away as if it never was, and a soul that is distanced from the mercy of Allah.

But the door of repentance is open for you today. Unlike Thamud, you have the chance to turn back to Allah before it is too late. Embrace His guidance, cherish His signs, and live a life that leaves a legacy of faith and righteousness. Do not let your days pass like a shadow, only to wake up in regret. Allah's mercy is vast, and His call to you is filled with love and compassion. Answer it, and you will find a life that truly matters—both in this world and the next.

📜 Verse 66-70 — Hud

So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.
And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone
As if they had never prospered therein. Unquestionably, Thamud denied their Lord; then, away with Thamud.
And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf.
But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."
