Key Words and Their Meanings:

(As-Sayhah): The mighty blast or a severe, deafening cry — a destructive sound sent as divine punishment.
(Zalamu): Those who wronged themselves through disbelief, transgression, and persistence in sin.
(Jāthimīn): Fallen dead, lying motionless on their faces, lifeless and still, as if frozen in place.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse describes the fate of the people of Thamud, who rejected the message of their prophet, Salih (peace be upon him), and persisted in their arrogance and wrongdoing. After they were given a respite and a warning, the promised punishment seized them: a single, overwhelming blast — a terrifying, destructive cry — struck them with such force that it ended their lives instantly. By morning, they lay dead in their own homes, fallen on their faces, their bodies motionless and lifeless, clinging to the earth as if they had never possessed any power or strength. Their wealth, their carved mountains, and their pride could not protect them from the decree of Allah. This was the result of their persistent injustice and their refusal to heed the truth, even after clear signs had been shown to them.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This scene is a powerful reminder of the certainty of divine justice. No matter how strong, wealthy, or influential a person may become, no one can escape the consequences of wrongdoing when Allah’s decree arrives. The people of Thamud were given miracles, yet they chose arrogance over gratitude. Their end was sudden and absolute — a lesson for every generation that follows. Let this verse inspire you to turn to Allah with sincerity, to abandon pride and transgression, and to embrace the path of humility and obedience. The same Allah who punished the wrongdoers is the One who opens the doors of mercy and forgiveness for those who repent before it is too late. Do not delay your return to Him, for no one knows when the final call will come.

📜 Verse 65-69 — Hud

But they hamstrung her, so he said, "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. That is a promise not to be denied."
So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.

As if they had never prospered therein. Unquestionably, Thamud denied their Lord; then, away with Thamud.
And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf.
