Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Āyah (آيَةٍ): A sign, miracle, or evidence that points to the truth — here, the countless proofs of Allah’s oneness and power.
- Yamurrūna ʿalayhā (يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا): They pass by it, see it, and encounter it in their daily lives.
- Muʿriḍūn (مُعْرِضُونَ): Turning away, heedless, neglecting to reflect or take heed.
Tafsir (Explanation):
How many signs are there scattered across the heavens and the earth — the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the oceans, the changing seasons, the very breath of life — all of them bearing witness to the oneness of Allah and His perfect power! Yet people pass by these signs every single day, seeing them with their eyes but turning away from them with their hearts and minds. They do not pause to ponder, nor do they let these wonders stir their faith. The evidence is not hidden; it is openly displayed before them, but they remain heedless, failing to reflect and draw lessons from what they witness.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, look around you! Every sunrise and sunset, every drop of rain, every leaf that falls — each is a message from your Lord, calling you to know Him and draw closer to Him. These signs are not random; they are placed before you as a mercy, so that you may see the truth with a clear heart. Do not be among those who pass by the greatest proofs of Allah’s existence and majesty without a second thought. Open your eyes, reflect, and let your heart be filled with awe and gratitude. For the One who created all this is worthy of your worship, your love, and your obedience. Let every sign you encounter remind you of Him, and turn your heedlessness into mindfulness — for in that turning lies your success and peace.
