Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, reminds humanity of His countless blessings that surround them at every moment of their lives — blessings so vast that they could never be enumerated. Among these magnificent gifts is the very institution of marriage and family, which He established from the nature He placed within you.
He created for you, from your own kind, spouses — partners who share your human nature, your emotions, and your capacity for love and compassion. He did not create them from a different species or a foreign essence, but from yourselves, so that you may find tranquility, comfort, and mutual affection in one another. This is a profound sign of His care — that the one who shares your life is not a stranger to your nature but a reflection of your own being.
And from these spouses, He granted you children — sons and daughters who carry your lineage forward — and then grandchildren and helpers who surround you in your later years, assisting you, serving you, and bringing joy to your hearts. The family unit, with its bonds of love and support, is itself a divine gift that no human effort could ever replicate or replace.
Moreover, He has provided for you from the purest and most wholesome provisions — delicious foods, nourishing fruits, grains, meats, and countless other blessings that sustain your bodies and delight your senses. All of this comes from His bounty alone, without any partner or associate.
Yet, despite all these overwhelming blessings, how astonishing is the state of those who turn away! They believe in falsehood — in idols and imaginary deities that have never created anything, never provided anything, and possess no power whatsoever — while at the same time they deny and show ingratitude for the countless favors of Allah, the One who created them, sustains them, and showers them with mercy at every breath.
A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:
Dear reader, pause for a moment and look around you. Your spouse, your children, your grandchildren, the food on your table, the air you breathe, the health you enjoy — every single one of these is a gift from your Lord. He asks nothing from you in return except that you acknowledge Him, worship Him alone, and be grateful. Is this too much to ask? Is there any comparison between the true God who provides all this and the false idols that can neither benefit nor harm?
The Qur'an calls you today to open your eyes to these realities. Embrace the pure monotheism of Islam, which frees your heart from the chains of false worship and connects you directly to the Most Merciful. Let gratitude fill your heart, and let your tongue utter: "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds." For indeed, the one who is grateful for Allah's blessings will find them increased, and the one who denies them will only harm himself. Choose gratitude, choose faith, and choose the path that leads to eternal success.
