Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- لَغْوًا (Laghwan): Vain, worthless, or sinful speech; idle talk that carries no benefit or contains falsehood and obscenity.
- سَلَامًا (Salāman): Peace, safety, and greetings of well-being.
- بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّا (Bukratan wa ʿAshiyyan): Morning and evening — indicating continuity and abundance, not literal times of day.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this blessed verse, Allah describes the exquisite reality of Paradise for His righteous servants. The people of Paradise will not hear any vain, worthless, or sinful speech therein — no lies, no backbiting, no obscenity, no idle chatter that burdens the soul. Instead, all they will hear is *Salām* — the greeting of peace and safety. This includes the angels greeting them with peace, and the believers greeting one another with warmth and love, reflecting the purity of their hearts and the perfection of their environment.
Moreover, Allah grants them their provision — delicious food and drink — continuously, described as "morning and evening." This does not mean that Paradise has a sun that rises and sets, for it is a realm of eternal light and bliss. Rather, it signifies that their sustenance comes to them without interruption, at all times, in abundance, whenever they desire. They will never experience hunger, thirst, or delay in receiving what they wish for.
This verse paints a vivid picture of the ultimate tranquility: a place free from harmful words, filled with peace, and overflowing with generous provision. It is a promise from the Most Merciful to those who strive in this world to guard their tongues from vain speech and their hearts from attachment to worldly distractions. Paradise is not merely a reward for deeds — it is a manifestation of Allah's infinite grace, where every soul finds exactly what it truly longs for: safety, peace, and unending goodness.
Let this verse inspire you, dear reader, to reflect on your own speech and actions. If you desire a life of peace and abundance in the Hereafter, begin today by filling your words with goodness, your heart with gratitude, and your days with sincere devotion. The gates of Paradise are open for those who believe and do righteous deeds — and the first taste of that bliss is the peace found in a heart connected to its Creator.
