Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- نَحْشُرُ (Nahshuru): We gather or assemble, specifically referring to the resurrection when all creation is brought together.
- الْمُتَّقِينَ (Al-Muttaqeen): The God-conscious, those who are mindful of Allah and protect themselves from His displeasure by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions.
- وَفْدًا (Wafdan): A delegation or honorable group of visitors, arriving with dignity and respect, like a noble entourage presented before a king.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this verse, Allah the Most High commands His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to remind the people of that tremendous Day—the Day of Resurrection—when He will gather the righteous and God-conscious believers from their graves and bring them before the Most Merciful (Ar-Rahman) as an honored delegation. They will not be driven or dragged; rather, they will come with dignity, riding in a noble procession, welcomed and honored by their Lord. This is a scene of immense honor and closeness to Allah, where the believers are received as distinguished guests, not as servants in fear, but as beloved servants in grace. The word "wafdan" evokes the image of a delegation sent to a king—traveling with ease, respect, and anticipation of generous reception. This stands in stark contrast to what follows in the next verse, where the disbelievers are driven to Hell in a harsh and humiliating manner, thirsty and on foot. The honor of the believers is thus magnified by the disgrace of the disbelievers.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, pause and imagine this scene: you are among those gathered, riding toward the Most Merciful, not out of fear, but out of love and honor. Your Lord, who has been with you through every trial, every tear, and every silent prayer, now welcomes you as His honored guest. This is not a reward for perfection, but a gift for your sincere striving to be among the muttaqeen—those who guarded their faith, their tongues, and their deeds for His sake. The door to this honor is open to you today. Every prayer you offer, every temptation you resist, every kindness you show to others draws you closer to that blessed procession. Do not let this moment pass without asking yourself: Am I living a life that would earn me a place in this honored delegation? The Most Merciful is not only the Most Compassionate in reward—He is also the Most Forgiving. Turn to Him now, mend your ways, and strive for that glorious Day. For indeed, the honor of that gathering is worth more than all the fleeting pleasures of this world combined.
