Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse paints a moving portrait of prophetic inheritance — a father’s and grandfather’s final counsel to their children, not of wealth or worldly status, but of the most precious treasure: faith itself.

Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, the beloved friend of Allah, gathered his sons — Ishmael and Isaac, peace be upon them — and enjoined upon them this profound word: the word of sincere submission to the Lord of all worlds. He did not merely advise them; he made it a binding will, a sacred trust to be preserved and passed down through generations.

Then, following in his footsteps, his grandson Prophet Jacob (Ya‘qūb), peace be upon him, did the same with his twelve sons. Both prophets addressed their children with the same loving yet firm call: "O my sons! Indeed, Allah has chosen for you this religion — the religion of Islam, the pure submission to His will. So do not let death overtake you except while you are Muslims."

The meaning is clear and profound: Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, selected Islam as the complete and final path for humanity. It is not a religion of mere ritual but a comprehensive way of life that aligns the heart, tongue, and limbs in devotion to the Creator. Therefore, the prophets commanded their offspring to cling to this faith with unwavering determination — not just at the beginning of life or in moments of ease, but until the very end, so that they would meet their Lord in a state of complete submission.

This verse teaches us that true success lies not in accumulating worldly possessions or leaving behind a grand legacy of property, but in ensuring that our children and grandchildren remain firmly rooted in the worship of Allah alone. It is a beautiful reminder that the greatest inheritance a parent can give is a sound faith, and the greatest honor a child can achieve is to live and die as a Muslim.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, imagine the scene: a father on the verge of leaving this world, with his children gathered around him. What would be his final words? For the prophets, it was not about money, status, or fame — it was about the soul’s relationship with its Creator. This is the essence of Islam: a religion chosen by Allah Himself, a path of peace, purpose, and eternal success.

Today, you too are part of this blessed chain. Just as Abraham and Jacob entrusted their children with this precious gift, you are invited to embrace it with your heart and live it with your actions. And just as they commanded their offspring to remain steadfast, you are called to be a living example of faith — so that when your final moment arrives, you too will meet your Lord as a Muslim, with a heart at peace and a soul in submission.

Let this verse inspire you to renew your commitment to Allah, to love this beautiful religion, and to strive every single day to be among those who say with their hearts, tongues, and deeds: "I have submitted myself to the Lord of all worlds." For indeed, the one who lives in submission to Allah will die in honor, and the one who dies as a Muslim has achieved the ultimate victory.

📜 Verse 130-134 — Al-Baqarah

And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.
When his Lord said to him, "Submit", he said "I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds."
And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims."
Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac - one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."
That was a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.
