Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Our Signs): The miraculous proofs and evidences given to Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, demonstrating the truth of his message.
  • فَكَذَّبَ (he denied): He rejected these signs as falsehood despite their clarity.
  • وَأَبَىٰ (and refused): He obstinately turned away and declined to accept the truth.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, the Most High, informs us in this verse about the state of Pharaoh — that stubborn tyrant who was shown the complete, undeniable signs of Allah's power and Oneness. These were the nine great miracles granted to Prophet Musa, peace be upon him: the staff turning into a serpent, the shining hand, the years of drought, the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, and the parting of the sea. Each of these was a clear, luminous proof that Musa was a true Messenger of Allah and that Pharaoh's claims of divinity were utterly false.

Yet, despite witnessing all of these with his own eyes, Pharaoh chose the path of denial and arrogance. He did not merely reject them out of ignorance — he saw them, understood their significance, and still refused. His heart was sealed by pride and his love for power, for accepting the truth would mean surrendering his false godhood and his oppressive authority over the people of Egypt.

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the problem of the disbeliever is rarely a lack of evidence, but rather a lack of humility. How many people today see the wonders of creation — the heavens, the earth, the intricate design of their own bodies — and still turn away? The signs of Allah are all around us, and within us, yet the arrogant heart refuses to bow.

Dear reader, let this be a gentle reminder and an invitation: do not be like Pharaoh, who let pride stand between him and his Creator. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy is vast. When you see a sign of Allah — a verse of the Qur'an, a moment of reflection in nature, or a call to prayer — respond with a humble heart. Say: "I believe in Allah, and I submit." For the one who accepts the truth in this life will find peace in his heart and success in the Hereafter, while the one who refuses, like Pharaoh, will only find regret when it is too late.

📜 Verse 54-58 — Taha

Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence.
From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.
And We certainly showed Pharaoh Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused.
He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses?
Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned."
