Tafsir (Explanation):
Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) addressed the sorcerers of Pharaoh with a sincere and powerful admonition, warning them before the fateful confrontation. He said: "Woe to you! Do not fabricate lies against Allah." This was a direct call for them to abandon their deceptive tricks and false claims, by which they sought to mislead the people into believing that their sorcery was a divine miracle. Musa warned them that if they persisted in this falsehood, Allah would seize them with a devastating punishment that would utterly destroy them. He then reinforced the gravity of their situation by reminding them that whoever invents lies against Allah has already failed and lost—both in this world and in the Hereafter. This was not merely a threat, but a heartfelt invitation to truth and repentance, as Musa, out of his deep compassion, wanted them to realize the futility of their path before it was too late.
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer: the sanctity of truth and the severe consequences of fabricating lies against Allah. In our daily lives, we must be vigilant not to attribute falsehoods to Allah—whether through superstitions, innovations in religion, or spreading misinformation about His teachings. The mercy of Musa (peace be upon him) is a beautiful example for us: even when facing enemies of the truth, he called them to righteousness with sincerity and compassion, hoping for their guidance. Let us embrace this noble character—speaking the truth, avoiding falsehood, and inviting others to Allah with wisdom and kindness. For indeed, success lies only with those who are truthful, and failure awaits those who invent lies against their Lord. May Allah guide us all to the straight path and protect us from the loss of the fabricators.
