Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُ بِالْقَوْلِ (They do not precede Him in speech): They do not speak before He commands them, nor do they utter anything that has not been permitted by Him.
- وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِ يَعْمَلُونَ (And they act by His command): They carry out only what He orders, without deviation or delay.
Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse comes as a direct response to the false claim of the polytheists who alleged that the Most Merciful has taken a son—claiming that the angels are His daughters. Far exalted is Allah above such fabrications! The angels are honored servants of Allah, distinguished by their closeness to Him and their complete devotion. They do not speak a single word until He commands them, nor do they precede His will with their own desires. Their entire existence is a perfect embodiment of obedience: they act solely upon His command, never exceeding it, never falling short of it, and never acting on their own initiative.
This verse teaches us a profound lesson about the essence of true servitude. The angels—despite their immense power, beauty, and closeness to Allah—do not assert themselves before their Lord. They are the living example of discipline, humility, and submission. If the most honored of Allah's creation behave in this manner, how much more should we, as human beings, strive to align our words and actions with the pleasure of our Creator?
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder the majesty of this scene: the heavens and the earth are filled with beings who never speak except with His permission and never act except by His command. This is the ultimate harmony of the universe—everything moves in perfect order under His will. When we submit to Allah in our own lives, we align ourselves with this cosmic reality. We find peace in knowing that our words are guarded, our actions are purposeful, and our lives are guided by the wisest of planners.
Let this verse inspire you to pause before you speak and reflect before you act. Ask yourself: Is this word pleasing to my Lord? Is this action in accordance with His command? By doing so, you elevate yourself to the rank of those who truly understand the meaning of worship—not as a ritual, but as a complete way of life. And know that the One who commands the angels also commands you—not to burden you, but to bless you with a life of purpose, tranquility, and eternal success.
