Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- ثُمَّ (Thumma): Here, it signifies a sequence of events—after the stages of creation and death mentioned in the preceding verses.
- تُبْعَثُونَ (Tub'athoon): You will be raised from the dead, resurrected from your graves, brought back to life after death.
Explanation of the Verse:
After Allah Almighty has reminded you of His creative power—how He brought you into existence from a drop of fluid, placed you in the wombs, and then brought you forth as infants until you reach maturity, and then cause you to die—He now tells you that death is not the final end. Rather, after this worldly life has concluded and you have been laid to rest in your graves, you will most certainly be raised again on the Day of Resurrection. You will emerge from your graves, alive once more, not to return to a life of leisure or play, but to stand before your Lord for a great and solemn purpose: to be held accountable for every deed you did in this world—whether good or evil, great or small. This resurrection is a certainty, and on that Day, you will be recompensed with perfect justice: eternal bliss for the righteous and painful punishment for the wicked.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
O beloved reader, ponder deeply upon this verse! The One who created you from nothing, who gave you life after you were non-existent, and who sustains you every single moment—is He not able to bring you back to life after death? Indeed, His power is absolute, and His promise is true. This resurrection is not a matter of doubt or speculation; it is the very essence of justice and wisdom. If this life were the end, then the oppressor would escape punishment and the righteous would lose their reward. But Allah, in His infinite mercy and justice, has decreed that there will be a Day when every soul is given its due. So let this certainty fill your heart with hope for the mercy of your Lord, and with a sincere determination to live a life that pleases Him. Let it awaken you from the slumber of heedlessness, for you are not created in vain, and you will not be left without purpose. Prepare for that Day, for it is nearer to you than you think, and its reward is greater than anything this fleeting world can offer. May Allah make us among those who are raised in the company of His righteous servants, and may He grant us the joy of His eternal paradise.
