Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Thumma): Then, indicating sequence and order.
(Ba'da dhalika): After that, referring to the stages of creation mentioned in the preceding verses.
  • لَمَيِّتُونَ (La-mayyitun): Surely dead — the emphatic "lam" (ل) reinforces the certainty of death.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O humanity, after you have passed through the remarkable stages of creation — from a drop of fluid, to a clinging clot, to a lump of flesh, to bones wrapped in muscle, until you emerge as fully formed beings — know with absolute certainty that this life is not the end. After all these phases of development and the completion of your creation, you will inevitably die when your appointed terms expire. There is no escape from this decree; every soul shall taste death, regardless of age, status, or power. This is not a matter of doubt or speculation — it is an unshakable truth that applies to every single human being who has ever lived or will ever live.

This verse serves as a profound reminder that the worldly journey is temporary and finite. The very same Creator who fashioned you with such precision and care from humble beginnings has decreed that your earthly existence will conclude. Yet this is not a message of despair — rather, it is an invitation to reflect. If Allah could create you from nothing and take you through such miraculous transformations, then He is certainly capable of bringing you back to life after death for the final reckoning. The certainty of death should awaken the heart from heedlessness, urging every soul to prepare for what lies ahead. Life is but a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of existence; the wise one is he who uses this brief opportunity to earn the pleasure of his Lord, knowing that the true, everlasting life awaits in the Hereafter. So let this reminder stir you to action — for the grave is the first station of the journey that never ends, and the deeds you send forth today will be your companions tomorrow.

📜 Verse 13-17 — Al-Mu'minun

Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.
Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.
Then indeed, after that you are to die.
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.
And We have created above you seven layered heavens, and never have We been of [Our] creation unaware.
