Explanation of the Verse:
In this verse, the Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) calls his people to the essence of true success: consciousness of Allah and reverence for Him. He says: *"And fear Him who has provided you with what you know."*
This is a profound reminder that the One who deserves our awe, obedience, and gratitude is none other than Allah — the Creator and Sustainer of all existence. He did not merely create you and leave you; rather, He continuously showers you with blessings that you can see, touch, and experience every single day. He gave you livestock — camels, cattle, and sheep — from which you derive food, clothing, and transportation. He granted you children, the joy of your hearts and the continuation of your lineage. He blessed you with fruitful gardens and orchards, yielding delicious produce. He caused water to gush forth from springs and wells, giving you life and vitality. All of these are blessings so obvious that you cannot deny them — they are part of your daily reality.
The verse gently but firmly asks: How can you turn away from the One who has given you all of this? How can you worship others when every good thing you possess comes from Him alone? The One who provided for you in the past and continues to provide for you in the present is the only One worthy of your worship, your gratitude, and your obedience.
This call is not just for the people of Hud — it is a timeless message for every human being. Look around you. Reflect on your health, your family, your sustenance, the air you breathe, the water you drink. Every single blessing is a sign of Allah's mercy and generosity. When you truly recognise this, your heart naturally fills with love for Him, and your fear of His displeasure becomes a driving force for righteousness.
The verse teaches us that *taqwa* (God-consciousness) is not merely fear of punishment — it is a deep, loving awareness that Allah has been extraordinarily kind to us, and therefore, we should never betray His trust by disobeying Him. When you realise how much He has given you, you naturally want to please Him in return.
So, dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. Count your blessings, and you will find them countless. Then ask yourself: Is it not time to turn to the One who has never stopped giving to you? Is it not time to live a life that pleases Him? The One who provided for you when you were weak, who guided you when you were lost, and who continues to sustain you every moment — He deserves your devotion, your gratitude, and your obedience. Let your fear of Him be the compass that guides you to eternal success, and let your love for Him be the light that illuminates your path.
