Surah Ash-Shu'ara — Verse 131

• Fattaqullāh (فاتقوا الله): Fear Allah, be mindful of Him, and fulfill His commands while avoiding His prohibitions.

Tafsir (Explanation):

After Prophet Hūd (peace be upon him) reminded his people of the abundant blessings Allah had bestowed upon them — cattle, children, fruitful gardens, and flowing springs — he urged them to respond with gratitude and obedience. He said to them: "Fear Allah and obey me." This means: be conscious of Allah in all your affairs, fulfill what He has commanded you, and stay away from what He has forbidden you. And obey me in what I call you to — the worship of Allah alone, without partners — for this is the path of your own good and salvation. This call combines two essential principles: taqwā (God-consciousness) which corrects one's relationship with the Creator, and obedience to the Messenger, which is the practical manifestation of that faith.
