Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "لِيَسْكُنُوا فِيهِ" – "that they may rest therein": meaning to find tranquility, stillness, and sleep during the night.
- "مُبْصِرًا" – "seeing/illuminating": meaning the day is made bright and clear so that people can see things distinctly.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Have these deniers of the truth not observed with their own eyes the magnificent sign of Allah’s power and wisdom? He created the night as a time of deep rest and stillness, a blanket of darkness that settles over the earth so that people may find peace, sleep, and recovery from the toils of the day. And He made the day bright and luminous, a time when eyes can see clearly, enabling people to move about, seek their livelihood, and attend to their affairs.
This alternating cycle of darkness and light is not a random accident—it is a precise, divine arrangement. In the coming of the night after the day, and the day after the night, there is a continuous lesson: just as the earth is revived after the stillness of night with the energy of morning, so too will you be revived after death for the Day of Reckoning. The One who has power over the sun and the moon, who flips the veils of darkness and light with perfect order, is certainly capable of bringing the dead back to life.
Indeed, in this wondrous system—the succession of night and day, the balance of darkness and illumination, the harmony of rest and activity—there are clear, undeniable signs for a people who truly believe. These are not signs for the heedless or the arrogant, but for those whose hearts are open, who reflect, and who affirm with certainty the oneness of Allah, the perfection of His power, and the abundance of His blessings upon His creation.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
O beloved reader, pause for a moment and contemplate this miracle that surrounds you every single day. You do not have to travel far to witness the greatness of your Creator—just look at how the night gently falls, bringing calm to your weary soul, and how the morning light breaks, renewing your hope and energy. This is not mere coincidence; it is the loving arrangement of Allah, who knows exactly what His creation needs.
Let this beautiful rhythm of life draw you closer to Him. If He can manage the sun and the moon with such precision, can He not manage your affairs, answer your prayers, and guide your steps? Trust in Him, submit to His will, and let your faith be a light in your heart just as the day illuminates the earth. For those who believe, every sunrise and every sunset is a living proof of Allah’s mercy, power, and promise of resurrection. So, open your eyes, reflect, and let your heart find rest in the remembrance of the One who created the night for your peace and the day for your striving.
