Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "Waqa‘a al-qawl" — The decree (of punishment) fell and became inevitable.
  • "Bimā ẓalamū" — Because of their injustice and wrongdoing (i.e., their disbelief and denial of Allah’s signs).
  • "Lā yanṭiqūn" — They do not speak; they are rendered speechless, unable to utter any excuse or defense.

Explanation of the Verse:

On that Day of Judgment, when every nation that denied Allah’s signs is gathered, the decree of punishment will be fulfilled upon them as a direct consequence of their own oppression — their stubborn disbelief, their rejection of the truth, and their persistence in falsehood. They wronged themselves by choosing to ignore the clear proofs and messengers sent to them. Now, when the punishment descends, they stand utterly silent — unable to speak a single word in their own defense. Their tongues are sealed, their excuses are void, and their arguments are nullified. There is no plea, no intercession, and no escape. The silence that overcomes them is not out of choice, but out of absolute helplessness — for every excuse they might have offered has already been refuted by the very evidence that was presented to them in life.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the time to speak is now, in this world, when the door of repentance is open. Today, Allah listens to your supplications, accepts your apologies, and welcomes your return to Him. Do not wait for the Day when tongues are tied and hearts are filled with regret. Let this verse awaken you to the urgency of turning back to your Lord — for the One who gave you the power of speech to testify to His Oneness is the same One who can silence you forever. Speak now with your words and your deeds: say, "My Lord, I believe in You, I repent to You, and I submit to You." For on that Day, the only speech that will benefit is the testimony of faith and the record of righteous deeds. Do not let the silence of that Day catch you unprepared — let your voice today be filled with remembrance, gratitude, and obedience to the Most Merciful.

📜 Verse 83-87 — An-Naml

And [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a company of those who deny Our signs, and they will be [driven] in rows
Until, when they arrive [at the place of Judgement], He will say, "Did you deny My signs while you encompassed them not in knowledge, or what [was it that] you were doing?"
And the decree will befall them for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak.
Do they not see that We made the night that they may rest therein and the day giving sight? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
And [warn of] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allah wills. And all will come to Him humbled.
