Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- بِمُعْجِزِينَ (bi-mu'jizeen): Those who can escape or frustrate Allah’s power; those who can render themselves beyond His reach.
- وَلِيٍّ (waliyy): A protector, guardian, or one who takes charge of your affairs.
- نَصِيرٍ (naseer): A helper or supporter who comes to your aid against harm.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O people, hear this truth clearly: you are not capable of escaping Allah’s might, neither on earth nor in the heavens. If you were to flee to the farthest corners of the earth, climb to the highest peaks, or even ascend into the sky itself, you would still be within Allah’s absolute dominion. His knowledge encompasses all, His power overcomes all, and His justice will surely reach you—no matter where you hide or how you try to evade His command. There is no refuge from Him except in turning to Him in repentance and obedience.
Moreover, you possess no protector besides Allah—no guardian who can manage your affairs or shield you from His decree—and no helper who can rescue you from His punishment if He wills harm upon you. The one who is a *waliyy* (a close ally and caretaker) is more specific than a *naseer* (a helper in times of need), yet even the most devoted ally or the strongest supporter among all creation cannot stand against Allah’s will. So do not be deceived by your strength, your wealth, or your position, for all of these are gifts from Him and can be taken away in an instant.
This verse is a profound reminder of our utter dependence on Allah alone. It strips away every false sense of security and directs our hearts to the only true source of safety and salvation. How beautiful is this call to humility! When you realize that no one can protect you except Allah, your heart naturally turns to Him with sincerity, seeking His mercy and forgiveness. This is the essence of *tawheed*—to know that Allah is the sole disposer of all affairs, and to live with that awareness in every moment. Let this verse fill you with hope, for the One who holds all power is also the Most Merciful, and He has opened the door of repentance for you. Run to Him before you are overtaken, for He is the best of protectors and the most generous of helpers.
