Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, the Most Merciful, calls upon His believing servants to hasten and race toward what leads to His forgiveness and to a Paradise whose vastness encompasses the heavens and the earth. This is not a call to delay or procrastinate, but an urgent invitation to seize every moment in obedience to Allah and His Messenger. The forgiveness mentioned here is not merely the erasure of sins—it is a magnificent mercy from the Lord of the worlds, a door that opens to eternal success.
The description of Paradise as having a width equal to the heavens and the earth highlights its unimaginable vastness. Since width is typically less than length, this description emphasizes that even the "smaller" dimension of Paradise is beyond human comprehension—so how immense must its full extent be? This Paradise has been meticulously prepared, adorned, and made ready for the muttaqūn—those who are conscious of Allah, who guard their hearts against sin, and who strive to live in obedience to Him in every aspect of their lives.
The verse inspires believers to compete in good deeds, to rush toward repentance, prayer, charity, kindness, and every act that draws them closer to Allah. It reminds us that the ultimate prize is not of this world—it is a garden of eternal delight, prepared by the Most Generous for those who love Him and fear Him.
A Da‘wah Reflection:
Dear reader, imagine a treasure so vast that it spans the heavens and the earth—yet it is not gold or silver, but a garden of eternal peace, rivers of pure water, and the pleasure of Allah Himself. This is what awaits the righteous. So do not let the distractions of this fleeting world steal your share of that eternal bliss. Hasten today, not tomorrow, toward His forgiveness. Every step you take in obedience, every sin you abandon for His sake, brings you closer to that Paradise. Allah has opened the door wide—will you not rush through it? The Prophet ﷺ said: "The Fire is surrounded by desires, and Paradise is surrounded by hardships" (Bukhari and Muslim). So bear the temporary difficulties of this life with patience, and race toward the everlasting joy that awaits you.
