Word Meanings:

(An-Nās): Here, it refers to some polytheists who spread the warning, specifically Nu'aym ibn Mas'ud al-Ashja'i or a traveling caravan.
(Qad Jama'ū Lakum): They have gathered their forces against you.
(Fākhshawhum): Fear them and beware of confronting them.
(Hasbunā Allāh): Allah is sufficient for us.
(Ni'm al-Wakīl): Excellent is the Disposer of Affairs (the One entrusted with all matters).

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse describes the noble believers who, after the Battle of Uhud, were approached by some people with terrifying news: Abu Sufyan and the Quraysh had gathered a massive army and were planning to return to finish them off completely. The warning was clear: "Fear them, beware of them, for you have no power to withstand them."

But instead of weakening their resolve, this threat only increased their faith and certainty in Allah's promise. It strengthened their conviction, purified their intentions, and solidified their determination to fight in the way of Allah. They did not retreat or waver; rather, they marched forward to meet the enemy, placing their complete trust in their Lord. Their response was profound and beautiful: "Hasbunā Allāhu wa ni'm al-Wakīl" — "Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs."

This statement reflects the pinnacle of reliance on Allah (tawakkul). They acknowledged that Allah alone is enough to protect them, provide for them, and handle every matter, no matter how daunting. They entrusted their entire situation to Him, knowing that His plan is perfect and His help is near.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a timeless lesson for every believer. When the world tries to intimidate you with its threats, when people warn you of overwhelming odds, or when challenges seem insurmountable, remember the response of these noble companions. Their faith did not waver; it grew stronger with every trial. They turned to Allah with hearts full of trust and tongues uttering the most powerful words of reliance: *Hasbunā Allāh wa ni'm al-Wakīl*.

This is the secret of the believer's strength: the more the enemy plots, the deeper our faith becomes. The more the world frightens us, the closer we draw to Allah. So when you face hardship, when you hear discouraging news, or when people try to fill your heart with fear, let your response be the same. Say it with conviction, say it with your heart present: Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of my affairs. For whoever places their trust in Allah, He will never abandon them, and He will grant them victory in ways they never imagined. This is the path of true believers — a path of unwavering faith, unshakable trust, and ultimate success in this life and the Hereafter.

📜 Verse 171-175 — Aal-Imran

They receive good tidings of favor from Allah and bounty and [of the fact] that Allah does not allow the reward of believers to be lost -
Those [believers] who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had struck them. For those who did good among them and feared Allah is a great reward -
Those to whom hypocrites said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs."
So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them. And they pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty.
That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers.
