Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

  • Al-Sa'ah (الساعة): The Hour — the Day of Judgment, whose exact timing is known only to Allah.
  • Al-Ghayth (الغيث): The rain that brings relief and goodness to the earth.
  • Al-Arham (الأرحام): The wombs — referring to what is hidden within them, such as the gender, nature, and destiny of the fetus.

  • Khabeer (خبير): The All-Aware — One who knows the innermost secrets and outward appearances of all things.

Explanation of the Verse:

This magnificent verse stands as a profound reminder of the absolute knowledge and sovereignty of Allah alone, and it concludes the chapter of Luqman with five unseen matters that are exclusively known to Him — a truth that humbles every soul and directs it toward its Creator.

First, Allah declares that He alone possesses the knowledge of the Hour — the exact moment when this world will come to an end and the resurrection will begin. No angel, prophet, or any created being has the slightest clue about this timing. It is a secret kept solely with Allah, and this knowledge serves as a constant call for every believer to prepare for that inevitable day.

Second, Allah sends down the rain from the skies at the precise time and place He wills. He alone controls the clouds, the winds, and the water cycle. No human being can bring forth a single drop of rain without His permission, nor can they prevent it when He decrees it. This is a visible sign of His mercy and His absolute control over the sustenance of all living creatures.

Third, Allah knows what is in the wombs — whether the child will be male or female, whether it will be blessed or unfortunate, and what its lifespan and provisions will be. This knowledge is entirely hidden from humanity; even the most advanced medical technology can only reveal a fraction of what Allah knows completely and perfectly.

Fourth, no soul knows what it will earn or achieve tomorrow — whether it will be good deeds or bad, wealth or poverty, health or sickness. This uncertainty is a divine mercy that keeps the believer humble, always turning to Allah for guidance and protection, and never becoming arrogant about the future.

Fifth, no soul knows in which land it will die. A person may travel far from home expecting a long life, yet death may meet them in an unexpected place. This knowledge is exclusively with Allah, and it reminds every soul of the fragility of life and the importance of being prepared for death at any moment.

The verse concludes with the beautiful affirmation: "Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware." He knows everything — the apparent and the hidden, the seen and the unseen, the secrets of hearts and the movements of atoms. Nothing escapes His knowledge, and His wisdom encompasses all that was, all that is, and all that will be.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, this verse is not merely information — it is a divine invitation to place your trust entirely in Allah. When you realize that your future, your provision, your life, and your death are all in His hands, your heart finds true peace. It frees you from anxiety about tomorrow, because you know that the One who controls tomorrow is the Most Merciful, the Most Wise.

Let this verse inspire you to live each day as if it were your last, to seek goodness in every action, and to turn to Allah in sincere repentance before the unknown hour arrives. The knowledge of the unseen is a treasure that belongs to Allah alone, and your role is to strive in obedience, trust in His plan, and beautify your character — for He is the One who knows what you do not know, and His wisdom is beyond all comprehension.

📜 Verse 32-34 — Luqman

And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful.
O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.
