Word Meanings:
- Min Aqsa al-Madinah — from the farthest part of the city, indicating a distant location.
- Yas'a — running swiftly, hastening with urgency and determination.
Explanation of the Verse:
From the furthest edge of the city, a man came running in haste — this was Habib an-Najjar, a believer who had secretly accepted the message of the messengers sent to his people. When he learned that his townsfolk were plotting to kill the messengers or harm them, he rushed immediately to defend the truth. He did not wait for permission or fear the consequences. He addressed his people with heartfelt sincerity, saying: "O my people! Follow the messengers sent to you by Allah." He urged them to accept the call of these noble men who sought no reward or payment for conveying the divine message — they were rightly guided, calling only to the worship of Allah alone. His words carried the essence of sincere advice: he wanted nothing for himself but the salvation of his people from destruction.
A Call to Reflection:
This verse paints a powerful picture of courage and selflessness. Here was a man who could have stayed silent, who could have saved himself from danger, yet he chose to run — not for wealth or fame, but out of pure love for his people and fear for their fate. How beautiful is the faith that moves a person to act when others remain passive! This man teaches us that true belief is not merely a word on the tongue but a force that drives us to stand for what is right, even when we stand alone. He teaches us that the best of people are those who carry the message of truth to others, not with arrogance, but with compassion — saying "O my people" as a loving brother, not as a harsh judge. Let us ask ourselves: are we ready to run toward good as he ran? Are we willing to speak the truth even when it is difficult? The path of the messengers is the path of mercy and guidance — and whoever follows it, even from the farthest corner of the earth, will find the light of Allah illuminating their way.
