Word Meanings:

  • الفَوْزُ (Al-Fawz): Success, triumph, or victory — the attainment of what is desired and salvation from what is feared.
  • العَظِيمُ (Al-‘Azheem): The immense, the great, the magnificent — that which is beyond measure or comparison.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this blessed verse, Allah tells us about the joyful words of the people of Paradise as they reflect upon their eternal state. They say: "Indeed, this is truly the great triumph!" — meaning that what they have been granted by their Lord — entry into Paradise, eternal life therein, and complete safety from the Fire — is the ultimate victory that no other success can rival.

This statement comes from their hearts overflowing with gratitude and wonder. They realize that they will never die again, never taste any punishment, and never experience any sorrow or hardship after entering Paradise. Their first death in the worldly life was their only death, and now they are forever alive in bliss. This is why they proclaim it as the "great triumph" — because it encompasses every good and excludes every evil, forever and ever.

The greatness of this triumph lies in its permanence and perfection: no fear follows it, no grief touches it, no end approaches it. It is the culmination of all hopes and the fulfillment of all desires, granted purely by the mercy and grace of Allah, the Most Generous.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, pause for a moment and imagine this scene: a believer standing in Paradise, looking back at the struggles and trials of this world, and declaring with absolute certainty, "This is the great triumph!" This is not a fleeting joy or a temporary happiness — it is an everlasting bliss that never fades.

This verse invites you to ask yourself: What is my ultimate goal? Is it the fleeting pleasures of this world that vanish like a shadow, or is it the eternal triumph that never ends? The path to this triumph is open to you right now — through faith in Allah, following His Messenger ﷺ, and striving in good deeds. Every step you take toward Allah in this life brings you closer to that moment when you, too, will say with joy, "Indeed, this is the great triumph!"

Do not let this world deceive you with its glitter. The true success is not in wealth, status, or comfort — it is in reaching that eternal garden where no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine. Seek it with sincerity, and Allah will grant it to you by His grace.
