Surah As-Saffat — Verse 59

• "إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ" – "Except our first death": The first and only death we experienced in the worldly life.
• "وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ" – "And we are not to be punished": We will not suffer any punishment or torment after entering Paradise.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this blessed verse, Allah narrates to us the joyful words of the people of Paradise as they revel in their eternal bliss. They say: "We will never die again except for the first death we already tasted in the worldly life, and we will never be subjected to any punishment."
