Surah As-Saffat — Verse 82

Tafsir (Explanation):

After Allah Almighty saved Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) and the believers who boarded the ark, He then drowned the remaining disbelievers — those who stubbornly rejected the call to monotheism and persisted in their arrogance and denial. The flood overwhelmed them completely, and not a single one of them survived. This was the divine justice that followed the divine mercy: the believers were rescued, and the wrongdoers were utterly destroyed. The verse serves as a powerful reminder that Allah’s promise of punishment for the oppressors is true and inevitable, just as His promise of salvation for the righteous is certain.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the fate of the disbelievers of Nuh’s people was sealed because they refused to heed the warnings and continued in their transgression. Yet, Allah’s mercy preceded His punishment — He gave them ample time to repent, and He sent them a patient prophet who called them day and night. When they persisted, His justice prevailed.
