Word Meanings:

  • Shīʿatihi (شِيعَتِهِ): His followers, partisans, or those who shared his path and methodology in calling to the Oneness of Allah (Tawḥīd).
  • Ibrāhīm (إِبْرَاهِيم): Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), the renowned friend of Allah (Khalīlullāh) and father of the Prophets.

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah, the Exalted, tells us that Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) was among the followers and adherents of Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) — not in the sense of sharing the same revealed law, but in the fundamental principles of faith: calling to the worship of Allah alone, rejecting false deities, and upholding the pure creed of monotheism. Even though long ages separated them, Abraham followed the same path of truth that Noah had pioneered.

This connection highlights the unity of the prophetic message throughout history — every Prophet came with the same core call: "Worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him." Abraham was a spiritual heir to Noah, continuing the mission of guiding humanity back to its Creator.

Abraham came to his Lord with a heart free from every false belief and blameworthy character trait — a heart purified of shirk (polytheism), hypocrisy, and doubt. He courageously confronted his father and his people, disapproving of their idol worship, and asked them with wisdom and firmness: "What is it that you worship besides Allah? Do you desire fabricated gods and worship them, while you abandon the worship of the One who alone deserves all worship? So what is your opinion of the Lord of the worlds — what will He do with you when you associate partners with Him and worship others alongside Him?"

A Daʿwah Reflection:

This verse teaches us a profound lesson: the believers of every era are connected — not by blood or nationality, but by the bond of faith and the shared mission of calling to Allah. Abraham was from the "party" of Noah because he carried the same torch of truth. This means that when you stand for Tawḥīd — when you purify your heart, your home, and your society from falsehood — you are walking in the footsteps of the greatest Prophets. You are part of a blessed chain that began with Noah and continues through Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and culminates in Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

So take pride in your identity as a follower of this noble path. Let the example of Abraham inspire you to have a heart free from falsehood, to speak the truth even when it is difficult, and to rely on Allah alone. For whoever aligns themselves with the people of Tawḥīd, Allah aligns them with His mercy and support — just as He honored Abraham and made his name eternal among later generations.
