Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- هَٰذَا (Hādhā): This — referring to the bliss and reward mentioned in the preceding verses.
- مَا تُوعَدُونَ (Mā tūʿadūn): What you are promised — the divine assurance given to the righteous.
- لِيَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ (Li-yawm al-ḥisāb): For the Day of Reckoning — the Day when all deeds will be accounted for before Allah.
Tafsir (Explanation):
This noble verse is a direct address to the righteous — those who feared Allah in the unseen and strove in obedience to Him. It announces: "This is what you were promised for the Day of Reckoning." The word "this" points to the magnificent gardens, delightful companions, and everlasting bounties described just before this verse — a reward that has no end and no diminishment. It is a promise from the Most Merciful, and His promise is true and certain.
The verse reminds the believers that the Day of Judgment is not a day of terror for them, but rather the day when their patience, faith, and good deeds will be transformed into visible, tangible bliss. Every act of charity, every prayer offered in the depths of the night, every word of truth spoken in the face of falsehood — all of it will be presented on that Day as a harvest of eternal joy. This is the ultimate justice of Allah: that no good deed, however small, is ever lost.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, contemplate the beauty of this divine promise. The One who created you, who knows your struggles and your silent sacrifices, has prepared for you a reward beyond imagination. The Qur'an describes it as "no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes" (32:17). This is not a vague hope — it is a binding promise from the Lord of the Worlds, delivered through His final Messenger ﷺ.
So let this verse ignite hope in your heart. Every hardship you endure for the sake of Allah, every temptation you resist, every tear you shed in sincere repentance — it is all being recorded, and it will all be repaid on the Day of Reckoning. The believer's life is not measured by fleeting worldly gains, but by the eternal treasure that awaits. Embrace this promise, live by it, and let it transform your daily choices into stepping stones toward that everlasting bliss. For indeed, the promise of Allah is true, and His reward is the greatest of all rewards.
