انظُرْ كَيْفَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ ۖ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِ إِثْمًا مُّبِينًا ۝٥٠

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

Yaftaroon (يَفْتَرُونَ): They fabricate and invent lies.
Al-Kadhib (الْكَذِبَ): Falsehood and untrue statements.
Ithman Mubeenan (إِثْمًا مُّبِينًا): A clear, evident, and manifest sin.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Messenger, look with wonder and amazement at these people who claim to believe, yet they invent lies against Allah, the Exalted. They attribute to Him what is not befitting of His majesty, such as claiming that He has forbidden what He has not forbidden, or that He has permitted what He has not permitted, or by altering His revealed Book and distorting its meanings. They even praise themselves falsely, claiming purity and righteousness for themselves, while Allah alone is the Judge of who is truly righteous.

Allah is far above and utterly free from everything they falsely attribute to Him. He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, whose laws are perfect and whose judgment is just. Their fabrications only expose their own corruption and misguided hearts.

And sufficient is this fabrication as a clear, undeniable sin — a sin so evident that no one can doubt its gravity. It is a sin that reveals their hypocrisy, their deviation from the truth, and their utter disregard for the sanctity of Allah's name and His religion.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, contemplate the severity of this sin: inventing lies against Allah. If fabricating falsehood against any person is blameworthy, how much greater is the crime when it is committed against the Creator of the heavens and the earth? This verse serves as a powerful reminder for every believer to be scrupulously honest in matters of religion — to never attribute to Allah what He has not said, and to never distort His Book to suit personal desires or worldly gains.

The Qur'an teaches us that Allah's religion is complete and perfect, needing no additions or alterations. True faith is built on sincerity, submission, and following the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exactly as it was revealed. When we adhere to this path, we find peace, purpose, and the pleasure of our Lord.

Let this verse be a warning to guard our tongues and our hearts, and a motivation to seek knowledge from authentic sources, so that we may worship Allah upon clarity and truth. Indeed, Allah loves those who are truthful and rewards them with His mercy and Paradise.

📜 Verse 48-52 — An-Nisa

48إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَىٰ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.

49أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم ۚ بَلِ اللَّهُ يُزَكِّي مَن يَشَاءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا

Have you not seen those who claim themselves to be pure? Rather, Allah purifies whom He wills, and injustice is not done to them, [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed].

50انظُرْ كَيْفَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ ۖ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِ إِثْمًا مُّبِينًا

Look how they invent about Allah untruth, and sufficient is that as a manifest sin.

51أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ الْكِتَابِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْجِبْتِ وَالطَّاغُوتِ وَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَهْدَىٰ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا سَبِيلًا

Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, who believe in superstition and false objects of worship and say about the disbelievers, "These are better guided than the believers as to the way"?

52أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يَلْعَنِ اللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ نَصِيرًا

Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed; and he whom Allah curses - never will you find for him a helper.
