Yawma tuwalloona mud bireena maa lakum minal laahi min `aasim; wa mai yudlilil laahu famaa lahoo min haad

The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Tuwalloon mudbireen: You turn your backs and flee in retreat.
  • 'Asim: A protector, defender, or one who shields from harm.
  • Yudlil: To lead astray, to abandon someone to misguidance due to their own choices.
  • Hadi: A guide who leads to the truth and right path.

Tafsir (Explanation):

On that Day—the Day of Judgment—you will flee in terror, turning your backs and running in every direction, desperately seeking escape from the horrors you witness. But where can you run? There is no shelter, no fortress, and no one who can shield you from Allah's punishment. Every protector, every ally, every power you relied upon in this worldly life will vanish, leaving you utterly exposed to His justice.

This verse strikes at the heart of human arrogance: we often believe we can outrun consequences or find safety in our wealth, status, or connections. Yet on that Day, all such illusions shatter. The One who created you, who knows your every deed, holds absolute authority—and no force in existence can intervene against His will.

And then comes the profound truth: "Whoever Allah leads astray, none can guide him." This is not a random decree but a consequence of persistent rejection of truth. When a person repeatedly turns away from Allah's signs, hardens their heart, and chooses falsehood, Allah leaves them to their own devices—and once that happens, no human effort, no philosophy, no ideology can bring them back to guidance. True guidance is solely in Allah's hands; He grants it to those who sincerely seek it, and withholds it from those who arrogantly refuse it.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse is a loving warning from your Lord—not to frighten you into despair, but to awaken you before it is too late. Today, while you still breathe, the door of guidance is wide open. Allah says: *"Call upon Me; I will respond to you"* (40:60). He is closer to you than your own jugular vein, waiting for you to turn back to Him with a sincere heart.

Do not wait for the Day when you will flee with nowhere to go. Run to Allah now—not away from Him. Seek His guidance while the means are still within your reach. For whoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whoever He honors with His light, no darkness can overcome. This is the greatest success, the ultimate refuge, and the eternal peace your soul truly longs for.

📜 Verse 31-35 — Ghafir

Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants.
And O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of Calling -
The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide.
And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allah send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic."
Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant.
