Tafsir (Explanation):
This blessed verse comes as a divine seal of protection for that sincere believer from the family of Pharaoh — the man who had secretly embraced faith in Moses and used his position to defend the prophet of Allah. When his identity as a believer was exposed, Pharaoh and his inner circle resolved to kill him. But Allah, the All-Powerful, turned their wicked schemes into dust. He protected this righteous man from every evil consequence of their plotting, and instead, the very punishment they sought for him enveloped them entirely.
The "worst punishment" that descended upon Pharaoh's people was twofold: in this world, they were drowned in the sea — a humiliating and complete destruction that wiped out their entire army and their false glory; and in the Hereafter, they face the fire of Hell, a punishment far greater and everlasting. Their plots, their arrogance, and their tyranny all collapsed in a single moment of divine decree.
This verse teaches us a profound lesson: when a believer stands for truth and trusts in Allah, no plot, no power, and no enemy can harm him beyond what Allah permits. Allah may delay His help, but He never abandons His sincere servants. The very traps the oppressors set often become the means of their own destruction.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, look at the beauty of this divine promise! The believer in Pharaoh's court was just one man, seemingly weak and surrounded by the mightiest tyrant of his time. Yet his faith made him stronger than an entire empire. Allah did not merely save him — He turned the tables completely, making the oppressors taste the very evil they intended for him.
This is the reality of Islam: true power lies not in numbers, armies, or worldly authority, but in a heart connected to Allah. When you stand firm upon the truth, even if the whole world stands against you, Allah stands with you. He says in the Qur'an: "Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed" (Al-Hajj: 38). So never fear the plots of people — fear only Allah, and He will make you victorious in ways you never imagined. The end is always for the righteous, and the punishment of the oppressors is never far away.
