Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Yakhūḍū (يخوضوا): To plunge into or engage deeply in falsehood, vanity, and futile arguments.
  • Yalʿabū (يلعبوا): To play, jest, or amuse themselves with worldly distractions.
  • Yulāqū (يلاقوا): To meet or encounter.
  • Yawmahum alladhī yūʿadūn (يومهم الذي يوعدون): The Day they are promised — the Day of Resurrection, when they will face the punishment they were warned about.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Messenger, leave these people who fabricate lies against Allah to their own devices. Let them plunge deeper into their falsehood and vain arguments, and let them amuse themselves with the fleeting pleasures of this worldly life. Do not waste your energy trying to convince them after the truth has been made so clear to them. Their time is limited, and they will soon meet the Day that has been promised to them — the Day of Resurrection — when they will face the severe punishment they denied and mocked. This Day will come upon them suddenly, whether in this world through divine retribution, or in the Hereafter with the torment of Hell, or both. On that Day, they will realize the gravity of their error, but it will be too late for regret.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, this verse carries a profound lesson for every soul. It reminds us that life is not a playground without purpose, nor is it a void where we can wander aimlessly. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has given us clear guidance and countless opportunities to return to Him. The promise of that Day is certain — no one can escape it. So, before that Day arrives, seize this precious moment to turn to your Creator, to purify your heart, and to fill your life with what truly matters: faith, good deeds, and the pursuit of His pleasure. Do not be like those who are so engrossed in the illusions of this world that they forget the reality that awaits them. The door of repentance is open, and Allah’s mercy is vast. Come back to Him today, and you will find peace in this life and success in the next.

📜 Verse 81-85 — Az-Zukhruf

Say, [O Muhammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
And it is Allah who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.
