Allah will say, "This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness." For them are gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great attainment.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Sadiqeen (الصادقين): Those who are truthful in their faith, intentions, words, and deeds.
  • Sidquhum (صدقهم): Their truthfulness and sincerity.
  • Khalideen (خالدين): Abiding forever, never to leave or die.
  • Radiya Allahu 'anhum (رضي الله عنهم): Allah is pleased with them, accepting their deeds and worship.
  • Al-Fawz al-'Azim (الفوز العظيم): The supreme success, the greatest attainment that surpasses all else.

Tafsir (Explanation):

On the Day of Judgment, Allah will address Prophet 'Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, and declare: "This is the Day when the truthfulness of the truthful will benefit them." After a lifetime of trials, tests, and the struggle to remain steadfast, the sincere believers—those who were honest in their faith in Allah, truthful in their words, pure in their intentions, and consistent in their actions—will finally reap the reward of their unwavering honesty. Their truthfulness, which may have cost them dearly in the worldly life, will now become their greatest asset and the key to eternal bliss.

For these truthful souls, Allah has prepared magnificent gardens beneath which rivers flow, watering lush trees and beautiful palaces. They will dwell therein forever, never to experience death, fatigue, or sorrow. Time will not diminish their joy, and their happiness will know no end.

Then comes the most sublime blessing of all: Allah will be pleased with them, and they will be pleased with Him. This mutual pleasure is the highest honor a servant can attain. Allah's pleasure means He has accepted their deeds, forgiven their shortcomings, and showered them with His boundless mercy. Their pleasure with Him means they are completely satisfied with His decree, His rewards, and His generosity—finding in His presence a joy that surpasses every worldly delight.

This, indeed, is the supreme success—the ultimate victory that no wealth, power, or worldly achievement can rival. It is the goal every believer should strive for, the prize that makes every sacrifice in this life worthwhile.

A Call to the Reader:

Dear seeker of truth, reflect on this magnificent promise! Allah, the Lord of the worlds, is offering you this very reward. Your truthfulness today—in your faith, your words, and your deeds—is not in vain. Every honest word you speak, every sincere intention you hold, every act of righteousness you perform is being recorded and will be returned to you on a Day when nothing else will avail you. Do not be deceived by the temporary gains of falsehood; they vanish like mist. But the reward of truthfulness is eternal, and the pleasure of Allah is the greatest treasure imaginable. Strive to be among the truthful, and you shall taste the sweetness of this supreme success.

📜 Verse 117-120 — Al-Maidah

I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness.
If You should punish them - indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them - indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Allah will say, "This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness." For them are gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great attainment.
To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is within them. And He is over all things competent.
