Surah Qaf — Verse 35

Word Meanings:

• لَهُم مَّا يَشَاؤُونَ فِيهَا — For them is whatever they desire therein (in Paradise).
• وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ — And with Us is more (an additional increase of bliss).

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse paints a breathtaking picture of the ultimate reward awaiting the righteous believers in Paradise. Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) declares that in Paradise, the believers will have everything their hearts desire — every wish, every longing, every dream they ever harbored will be fulfilled instantly and completely. No request will be denied, no desire will go unanswered. The bliss of Paradise is not limited by human imagination; it is a realm where the soul finds perfect satisfaction.

Yet, the verse does not stop there. After promising the fulfillment of all desires, Allah adds a profound and awe-inspiring phrase: "وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ" — "And with Us is more." This "more" is not merely an addition of more gardens, rivers, or palaces — though those are certainly included. The greatest and most magnificent part of this "more" is the vision of Allah's Noble Face, the supreme joy that surpasses every other pleasure of Paradise. This is the ultimate gift that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived. It is a blessing so immense that all the delights of Paradise combined cannot compare to it.

This verse teaches us that Allah's generosity knows no bounds. When He gives, He gives beyond measure. When He rewards, He rewards beyond expectation. The believer who strives in this world for Allah's sake should know that the reward is not merely a compensation — it is an overflowing, ever-increasing bounty that reflects the infinite mercy and kindness of the Most Generous Lord.

The Creator of the heavens and the earth, the One who fashioned the stars and the galaxies, is telling you that if you believe in Him and live righteously, He has prepared for you a reward beyond your wildest imagination. He does not merely give you what you ask for — He gives you more, infinitely more. This is the beauty of Islam: it offers not just salvation, but an eternal, ever-expanding joy that culminates in the most intimate honor — gazing upon the Face of your Lord. What heart can resist such a call? What soul would turn away from such a destiny? Open your heart to this truth, and let the promise of "مزيد" — the increase that never ends — draw you closer to the One who loves to give, and who loves to be loved.
