Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Al-Muqarrabīn (الْمُقَرَّبِينَ): Those who are brought near to Allah—the foremost in faith and righteousness, the elite among Allah’s servants who excel in obedience, sincerity, and love for Him.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse shifts the scene to the moment of death and the afterlife, addressing the fate of the soul as it departs this world. Allah says: "So if the dying person is among the Muqarrabīn"—meaning those who raced toward good deeds, who devoted their lives to worship, who purified their hearts from worldly attachments, and who drew closer to Allah through every possible act of love and submission. These are the people who lived with their eyes on the Hereafter, never losing sight of their ultimate meeting with their Lord.

For such a soul, death is not a terror but a transition into mercy and joy. At the very instant of death, they are greeted with the glad tidings of Allah’s vast compassion, a profound inner peace, and a delight that fills their heart—because they know they are leaving a transient world for an eternal bliss. Their souls are welcomed with honor, and they are promised the Gardens of Delight in the Hereafter, where they will dwell forever in the presence of their Lord, enjoying what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived.

This verse is a gentle reminder that our deeds in this life shape our departure from it. Those who strive to be among the Muqarrabīn—through sincere faith, consistent worship, kindness to others, and constant remembrance of Allah—will find that even the most feared moment of death becomes a bridge to unimaginable happiness. Let this inspire you to draw nearer to Allah today, for every step you take toward Him in this life will be a source of comfort and light when you meet Him in the next.

📜 Verse 86-90 — Al-Waqi'ah

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,
Bring it back, if you should be truthful?
And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah,
Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.
And if he was of the companions of the right,
