Translation — Tafsir

Key Words and Meanings:

  • At-Taqwa (اتَّقُوا): To be mindful of Allah, to obey His commands, and to avoid His prohibitions out of reverence and love for Him.
  • Kiflayn (كِفْلَيْنِ): A double share or two portions of reward and mercy.
  • Noor (نُورًا): A light that guides, illuminates the heart, and leads one on the straight path in this life and on the Day of Judgment.

Explanation of the Verse:

O you who have believed in Allah and followed His messengers before! Continue to be mindful of Allah by fulfilling His commands and abstaining from what He has forbidden. And believe in His final Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him), whom He has sent as a mercy to all of creation. If you do so, Allah promises you a double share of His mercy and reward—one for your faith in the previous scriptures and prophets, and another for your faith in Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Moreover, He will grant you a radiant light by which you will walk—a light that illuminates your heart with certainty and guidance in this worldly life, and a light that will shine for you on the Bridge (As-Sirat) on the Day of Resurrection, leading you safely to Paradise. And He will forgive you your sins, concealing them and not holding you accountable for them. Indeed, Allah is Ever-Forgiving to His servants and Most Merciful to them.

This verse is a profound call to every believer, reminding us that faith is not a stagnant state but a continuous journey of growth. Allah is inviting you, right now, to elevate your faith to the next level. He is not asking you to be perfect; He is asking you to take a step toward Him. And when you take that step, He showers you with multiplied mercy, grants you a guiding light, and wipes away your sins. What a generous Lord! What an open door of mercy! Do not hesitate, for His forgiveness and mercy are vast enough to embrace all your shortcomings.

📜 Verse 26-29 — Al-Hadid

And We have already sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture; and among them is he who is guided, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.
Then We sent following their footsteps Our messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allah. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.
O you who have believed, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will [then] give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
[This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allah and that [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.
