Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- السَّمَاوَاتِ وَفِي الْأَرْضِ (in the heavens and the earth): His divinity and dominion encompass all realms of existence.
- سِرَّكُمْ وَجَهْرَكُمْ (your secret and your public): Everything concealed within your hearts and everything you openly reveal.
- مَا تَكْسِبُونَ (what you earn): All deeds, words, and intentions you acquire or commit, whether good or evil.
Tafsir (Explanation):
He alone is Allah—the One truly deserving of worship—in the heavens and on the earth. His divinity is not confined to one place; rather, His sovereignty, knowledge, and authority permeate every corner of existence. There is no deity worthy of devotion except Him, and this is proven by His all-encompassing knowledge: He knows your innermost secrets, the hidden thoughts that no one else can perceive, and He knows what you declare openly before others. Nothing escapes His awareness—not a whisper of the heart, not a word on the tongue, not an action performed in the darkest of nights or the brightest of days. Moreover, He knows everything you "earn"—every deed you commit, whether righteous or sinful—and He records it all with perfect justice. This knowledge is not passive; it is the foundation of His recompense, for He will reward the good with goodness and hold the wicked accountable for their wrongs.
Da'wah Reflection:
O beloved reader, let this verse awaken within you a profound sense of accountability and hope. If Allah—the Lord of the heavens and the earth—knows every secret you hide and every act you perform, then how could you ever feel alone? He is always with you in His knowledge, watching over you with mercy and justice. This awareness should fill your heart with awe, yet also with comfort: your sincere efforts, even the smallest hidden good deed, are never lost. He sees your silent struggles, your private prayers, your quiet charity—and He will never let them go unrewarded. At the same time, let this knowledge guard your conduct, for no sin is truly "hidden" from Him. Turn to Him in repentance, seek His forgiveness, and strive to earn only what pleases Him. For the One who knows all is the One who loves to forgive, and His mercy embraces all who return to Him with a sincere heart.
