Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Exalted, is the One Who splits the darkness of the night to bring forth the light of dawn. He alone causes the morning to break forth from the depths of darkness, a scene repeated every single day as a sign of His infinite power and mercy. He also made the night a time of rest and stillness, a tranquil cover under which all creation finds peace and recuperates from the toil of the day. Moreover, He subjected the sun and the moon to a precise and unerring system of calculation—their movements, phases, and orbits are perfectly measured so that humanity can mark the passage of time, count the years, and manage their worldly and religious affairs with order and clarity. All of this—the splitting of dawn, the stillness of night, and the precise orbits of celestial bodies—is the meticulous design and decree of the Almighty, the All-Powerful (Al-ʿAzīz), Whose will none can overcome, and the All-Knowing (Al-ʿAlīm), Whose wisdom encompasses every detail of His creation and what is best for His servants.
A Daʿwah Reflection:
Pause and reflect, dear reader, on the world around you. Every morning you wake to light piercing the darkness, every night you find rest under a blanket of calm, and above you, the sun and moon run their courses with breathtaking precision—never colliding, never faltering, never late. This is not random chance; this is the handiwork of your Lord, the Almighty, the All-Knowing. He did not create this universe for play, but as a signpost pointing to His greatness and a call to know Him. When you witness the break of dawn, let it remind you that the same Allah Who brings light from darkness can bring hope from despair, ease from hardship, and guidance from ignorance. And when you see the sun and moon following their measured paths, know that your life, too, is under His perfect decree—so turn to Him, trust Him, and let your heart find its true rest in His remembrance. Indeed, the One Who ordered the heavens and the earth is more than capable of ordering your affairs and answering your prayers. Will you not then draw closer to Him?
