Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Tanzīl (تَنزِيلٌ): A sending down, a revelation, or that which is sent down from above.
- Min Rabbi al-‘Ālamīn (مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ): From the Lord of all the worlds—the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign of everything that exists.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse is a decisive and emphatic declaration that the Qur’an is not the product of human imagination, nor the ramblings of a poet, nor the soothsaying of a diviner—as the disbelievers of Makkah falsely claimed. Rather, it is a revelation sent down from the Lord of all the worlds, the One who created the heavens and the earth, who knows every secret and every hidden thing. It was conveyed by the angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) to the heart of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), as a mercy and a guide for all of humanity.
The verse follows a powerful oath in which Allah swears by all that is seen and all that is unseen, affirming that this Qur’an is His very speech. It is not a human composition, nor a magical spell, nor a poetic fantasy. It is the word of the Almighty, revealed with wisdom, justice, and truth. The fact that it comes from the Lord of all worlds means it carries absolute authority, perfect guidance, and timeless relevance. No one can produce its like, and no one can alter its message, for it is preserved by the One who sent it down.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect: if this Qur’an truly comes from the Lord of all worlds, then it deserves your full attention, your sincere contemplation, and your heartfelt submission. It is not a book of stories or myths; it is a direct communication from your Creator to you. It tells you why you were created, how to live a life of purpose, and what awaits you after death. It is a light that illuminates the darkest paths, a healing for the troubled heart, and a mercy for all who embrace it.
So open your heart to this divine message. Let it guide you to the truth, for the One who revealed it is the Most Merciful, the Most Wise. He does not leave you in darkness; He sends down His guidance out of love for His servants. Will you not respond to that love with faith and obedience? The Qur’an is your rope to Allah—hold firmly to it, and you will never be lost.
