Key Words and Their Meanings:
- "Ba'athna" (بَعَثْنَا): We sent or raised up — here, it means commissioning a prophet with a divine mission.
- "Ayatina" (بِآيَاتِنَا): Our signs — the clear miracles and proofs given to Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, such as the staff, the shining hand, and other wonders.
- "Mala'ihi" (مَلَئِهِ): His chiefs or the elite of his court — the prominent leaders and advisors of Pharaoh.
- "Fazalamu biha" (فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا): They wronged them — meaning they rejected and denied these signs out of injustice and arrogance, placing disbelief where faith should have been.
- "Al-Mufsidin" (الْمُفْسِدِينَ): The corrupters — those who spread corruption and mischief on earth.
Explanation of the Verse:
After the succession of earlier prophets and their nations, Allah sent His noble Messenger Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, with undeniable miracles and clear signs to Pharaoh and his inner circle of chiefs. These signs were not ambiguous; they were luminous proofs of Allah's power and Musa's truthfulness. Yet, Pharaoh and his people did not respond with gratitude or belief. Instead, they deliberately rejected these signs — not out of ignorance, but out of sheer injustice, pride, and stubbornness. They knew the truth in their hearts, yet they chose to deny it, placing their arrogance above divine guidance.
The verse then turns to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and to every reader, saying: *"Look and reflect upon how the fate of the corrupters ended."* It is an invitation to open one's eyes to history. What happened to Pharaoh and his people? Allah drowned them all — every last one of them — while Musa and his followers watched. Their power, their wealth, their armies, and their false gods could not protect them. They were destroyed completely, and their legacy became a lesson for all of humanity.
This is the universal law of Allah: corruption and injustice, no matter how powerful they seem, always meet a bitter end. The fate of the corrupters is not delayed forever; it is a promise from Allah that will certainly come to pass.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, this verse is not merely a story of the past — it is a living sign for you and me today. It teaches us that no tyrant, no matter how mighty, can escape the justice of Allah. It also gives us hope: just as Musa was supported and his people were saved, so too will the believers who hold fast to truth and patience be victorious. Let this verse inspire you to stand firm in your faith, to trust in Allah's plan, and to never envy the temporary success of those who spread corruption. Their end is sealed with loss, while the end of the righteous is honor and eternal bliss. Reflect on this, and let your heart draw closer to the One who never fails His promise.
